Banking on Career Advancement through Education

Education and training are not accessible to many working adults in a time when continuous learning and upskilling are basic requirements for career mobility and higher wages.  The Silicon Valley Lifelong Learning Account (LiLA) Program brings together employers and employees to create a partnership approach for meeting both the competitive needs of business and the skill and knowledge requirements of workers in the global marketplace. LiLAs provide a shared responsibility/shared benefit model of workforce development for the greater Silicon Valley region.

LiLAs

  • are voluntary employee/employer matched portable individual savings accounts used for financing education and training
  • maximize education and training dollars
  • supplement employer-supported tuition assistance programs and allow smaller businesses to offer education benefits cost effectively
  • are funded through individual employee contributions, employer matches, and potential matches from third party sources
  • provide a career counselor to help employees map out their goals and learning plans
  • pay for a wide range of educational activities for career advancement
  • deliver all the recruitment,  enrollment , and career counseling services at the business location

In addition, a LiLA program

  • enhances existing education and benefits programs
