Silicon Valley Lifelong Learning Accounts Program (LiLA)
The Silicon Valley LiLA Program testimonials:
"Why is the SV LiLA Program important for business and employers?"

"One of the biggest challenges I face working in Human Resources is how to increase employee retention and productivity. I believe that the SV LiLA Program is part of a progressive solution to this dilemma. By allowing room for employee autonomy, the spring board is set to help boost employee morale, which in turn helps increase productivity, and that in turn helps improve retention. I love the idea of the SV LiLA Program and would love to see it as commonly offered as medical and 401(k)."-Alisa Hatfield, Global Netoptex, Inc. (GNi) |

"Those of us in the workforce community are excited about the Silicon Valley LiLA program as an important new workforce tool for Santa Clara County and Silicon Valley. As the region's industries continue to recover from the economic downturn of 2000 we are challenged to constantly evolve and change with the times--and workers must build upon existing skills to meet the needs of the new green, clean and nanotechnology industries of the future. The Silicon Valley LiLA Program is an integral part of this matrix."-Ray McDonald, work2future |

"LiLA changed my life. Thanks to the LiLA Program I had the opportunity to improve my English skills and grow in my career. As an immigrant, English was the first obstacle I had to work on. It was hard for me at the beginning because I had to work during the day and study at night; however, I believe in education and knew that the only way to make it was to go back to school.
At the beginning of the program I had meetings with my LiLA counselor. I decided to finish the English as a Second Language course. Because of my improved English skills, I was promoted to Administrative Assistant II and soon afterwards, I was promoted to an Administrative Assistant III. These promotions are the result of my hard work and the great opportunity the LiLA Program provided me.
Right now I'm ready for new challenges. I’ve spoken with my supervisor and have expressed my interest in continuing my journey to learn and grow in Human Resources, and by September I'll be assuming new duties and responsibilities."
Thank you, LiLA, for helping me to make my dreams come true. -Fanni Munoz, UCSF |
