CIMS Launch March 14 2008

"Tell Me Where It Hurts"
New CIMS Lab Launches on March 14, 2008

They cry, they groan, they fuss. Their pulses race, their blood pressure rises. But they're not human. HAL and Noelle and Pediatric HAL are highly advanced technological simulators. And on Friday, March 14, you'll meet them at the launch of the Center for Innovative Medical Simulation (SIMS).

DATE: Friday, March 14, 2008
TIME: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm (Formal Program starts at 2:00 pm)
PLACE: CIMS Lab, 600 South Bascom Avenue, Technology Building T, San Jose

Breaking all boundaries, the CIMS Lab not only offers ethnically diverse simulators, this training resource is open to nurses, physicians, EMTs, surgeons--all levels of our community's healthcare professionals. In a safe yet realistic environment, both new and incumbent personnel will learn how to improve patient care and safety.

The CIMS Launch will also unveil the partnership with Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center (KPSJ) that activated a $800,000 grant through the State Chancellor's Office. The CIMS grant allows for the most up-to-date training of 450 incumbent KPSJ nurses, some of whom will be in attendance.

This is a hands-on event. The simulators will react to your touch and your actions. You can take their blood pressure or insert IV lines. Watch their pupils dilate. Officials from the CIMS Team, Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center, the State Chancellor's Office, SJECCD Leadership and nurses currently in the launch program will be on hand to answer your questions.

CIMS is part of the Institute of Business Performance, a division of the San Jose Evergreen Community College District.
